When I first decided to train as a Personal Trainer in 2012, I thought I was simply changing careers and finding my 'thing'. I had a deep interest in health and fitness and I wanted to help others become physically stronger and healthier. What I didn’t realise was that this path would lead me deep into my own healing journey, revealing layers of emotional wounds I hadn’t yet faced. Despite feeling physically fit, I was still reacting to old patterns, stuck in emotional loops, and disconnected from my inner self. This realisation changed everything.
Discovering the Limits of Physical Health
At the start, my focus was purely on physical fitness. I loved the energy of training, the clear progress in strength and endurance, and the satisfaction of helping clients reach their goals. Yet, something felt incomplete. I noticed that even when my body was strong, my emotional responses remained fragile. Stress, anxiety, and unresolved childhood experiences continued to affect my daily life. I struggled to support my own children with the challenges that they faced and I knew I did not want to parent from the place that I had been parented from.
This disconnect pushed me to explore beyond muscles and movement. I began learning about nervous system regulation and how trauma impacts our body’s ability to stay calm and balanced. I realised that true health includes emotional regulation and healing the wounds that live beneath the surface.
The Turning Point: Inner Child Healing and Childosophy
As I moved away from Personal Training and into into the world of healing I encountered Childosophy, a philosophy based upon Dr Maxine Therese's research, which is a healing modality for children & adults. It emphasises nurturing the emotional inner life of the child and fostering emotional wellness from a young age. This inspired me to think about healing not just as a personal journey but as a way to support others, especially women and children, in their own growth, as well as my own family.
One of the most profound discoveries on my healing journey was the concept of inner child healing. This practice and guidance under the wing of Tracey Stevens at The Healing Point changed everything, it helped me reconnect with the parts of myself that had been hurt, neglected or abandoned as a child. Through gentle reflection and compassion, I started to understand how early experiences shaped my reactions and beliefs.
What I had discovered up to this point was that traditional wellness in the sense of physically being 'well' wasn’t enough to feel truly well. I had to look at myself as a whole person - Mind, Body, Soul.

Holistic Integrative Creative Arts Therapy
As part of my healing journey I unlocked a part of myself that loved Art, I remembered how much joy art had brought me throughout my younger years. This led me to study Holistic Integrative Creative Arts Therapy, with Julie-Anne Salter at The Soulfull Mind Wellness Hub, where I learnt how to use art, movement, meditation, music and expression to unlock healing in ways words sometimes cannot. This approach helped me further to access emotions stored in the body and mind, promoting nervous system regulation and emotional balance.
I could now guide clients through a process of healing that included body, mind, and spirit.
Becoming a Holistic Health and Emotional Wellness Coach
So here I am today, in my role as a holistic health and emotional wellness coach, feeling more balanced and whole then I've ever felt before. Working with clients to identify the root cause and energy imbalances of their struggles, whether it stems from unresolved trauma, stress, or emotional blocks, using techniques for healing, nervous system regulation and inner child healing - I feel like I have come full circle.
I love what I do and I adore helping clients build resilience, improve emotional regulation, and reconnect with their authentic selves. This work is deeply rewarding because it addresses the whole person, not just the symptoms.
Practical Steps That Helped Me and My Clients
Here are some practical tools I found effective in my healing journey and now share with others:
Meditation and mindfulness to calm the nervous system during stressful moments.
Creative expression through drawing, movement, or writing to access hidden emotions.
Inner child dialogues to nurture and comfort wounded parts of the self.
Energy healing practices like chakra balancing to restore flow and vitality.
Root cause exploration to identify patterns and beliefs that keep emotional wounds active.
These tools create a foundation for lasting healing and growth. They help people move beyond surface-level fixes and build emotional strength from within.
Why Healing Is a Lifelong Journey
Healing is not a one-time event but a continuous process. Even now, I find new layers to explore and new ways to support my nervous system and emotional health. This journey has taught me patience and compassion for myself and others, I'm by no means perfect - I'm still a work in progress.
By sharing my story and the practices that helped me, I hope to inspire others who feel stuck or overwhelmed. Healing is possible, and it can transform your life in ways you might not expect.
If you are ready to start your own healing journey, consider exploring holistic approaches that honor your body, mind, and spirit. Whether through creative arts, emotional wellness coaching, or inner child healing, there are many paths to rediscover your strength and peace.
Healing is about reconnecting with yourself and finding balance in all areas of life. My journey from personal trainer to holistic health coach showed me that true wellness includes emotional regulation and nervous system care. By addressing the root causes and embracing creative, energetic healing, we can support ourselves and others in profound ways.
